Stuart Smith MP congratulates Simon Heath on appointment to EDUCANZ board
Kaikoura MP Stuart Smith welcomes the announcement made today by Minister of Education Hekia Parata of the make-up of the new teacher professional body, the Education Council of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Out of 145 applications, nine were selected for the council, including Mr Simon Heath, principal of Renwick School.
“I am delighted to hear of Mr Heath’s appointment to the Education Council”, Mr Smith says.
“To be selected out of 145 applicants is outstanding achievement, and I wish to congratulate Mr Heath on this well-deserved appointment”.
Mr Heath has been Principal of Renwick School since 2008, and previous to that has worked as a deputy-principal and teacher.
“Mr Heath has a wealth of experience in education which makes him an excellent choice for this council.
“On top of his work as an educator, Mr Heath has been involved in numerous initiatives and working groups that aim to advance the quality of teaching provided in the Marlborough region”, Mr Smith says.
Mr Heath is a member of the Ministerial Regional Cross Sector forum and member of Investing in Educational Success – Blenheim Community of Schools Working Group. Mr Heath has also been Chair of Mistletoe Bay Trust, Lead Principal for Marlborough e-Learning Project and Eco Schools, the president of the Marlborough Principals Association and an establishment member of the Ministry of Education's Principals Reference Group.
