Kaikōura MP Stuart Smith is delighted that Kaikōura District Council will receive $12,600 under the Youth Development Partnership Fund 2015.

“This investment will fund Kaikōura District Council to support the Youth Council to identify, lead and deliver a youth led photo voice project, and an exhibition on "thriving and engaged" for policy makers, the District Council, Boards of Trustees and the public.
“The young people who take the opportunities this funding makes available will build essential skills and confidence for their futures.

“National believes in supporting young Kiwis to reach their full potential,” Mr Smith says.

Twenty-five city and district councils will benefit from this latest Youth Development Partnership funding, enabling Territorial Authorities and young people, aged 12 to 24, to work together to provide Youth Citizenship projects for young people.

“I thoroughly enjoy meeting and spending time with the young people we have here in Kaikoura.

“Our young people are bright, energised and innovative, this funding makes it possible for them to be involved in meaningful community activities, and to influence local decision-making,” Mr Smith says.

Since the launch of the Youth Development Partnership Fund in 2005, more than 50 city and district councils have been supported to work with and improve the outcomes for young people in their regions.
