The Hurunui District Council has been granted $5,920 to deliver their youth driven project in Amberley, under Youth Fund 2016.

“I am delighted the Hurunui District Council has been awarded funding to make this youth-led ‘Activate –Youth Leaders Media and Marketing Hui’ project a reality.

“The young people involved have shown tremendous initiative and their work will be great for our community,” Mr Smith says.

The District Council will receive funding to deliver a one day workshop, open to Canterbury youth councils and youth leaders, focused on social media, traditional media, marketing and promotion of youth councils and youth events.

“We have many outstanding young people in our community, and Youth Fund 2016 supports activities designed by young people which develop their decision-making and leadership skills,” Mr Smith says.

The 50 successful applicants of the 2016 Youth Fund will receive a total of $217,000 to fund projects supporting young people.

The Youth Fund initiative is for projects that respond to a need in the community as identified by youth. Projects are led by individuals or groups of young people aged 12 to 24 years old, or organisations working in partnership with young people.
